End of Days Review
Really enjoyed it. Fast paced action, scarey story line. First one of this author's books I've read. But i will certainly read more of them. Thanks for the freebie .
suspense, thriller, supernatural, action-adventure, mystery, myths-legends, riveting Amazing! From the religious snake handlers of Appalachia to Berlin to Iraq and more the ARKANE team work hard against an enemy who once worked with them. One of the best things about this series is that you can just drop in and enjoy without having to fuss about having read things in order and each stands alone just fine. Like a Cussler book, the organisation is a constant and the main investigators are colorful threads in a tapestry richly adorned by the exotic locales and the rather supernatural problems that they encounter. It's filled with suspense and kept me riveted into the night! Of course I loved it, even though I loathe snakes! The audio is ably performed by Veronica Giguere.
I found this book interesting and also scary to think what is really going to happen in this world
Great book and the way that historical truths are inter woven with religious fact is really enticing and a great read
*I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I'm going to warn you up front. I've been loving this series, author, and narrator so my thoughts are probably going to sound like rambling praise. The narration. Veronica is one of my favorite voice actresses. Her work feels to create a whole character in voice, emotion, and personality in compliment to the authors words of actions and personalities. This world of Morgan and Jake is wonderful while listening to Veronica. I find myself slipping into the world with the characters and don't even realize she's narrating. This is a hats off to the author and Veronica. An amazing bond between the words and voice, great pairing! J.F. Penn has a way of writing senses that liven the book. The red sand or smelled of freshly turned earth... These sound like simple phrases, but I knew exactly what they looked or smelled like. And when used in the phrasing Penn uses to describe things, oh, they tell all and heighten the feel of the story. The use of senses so familiar gave me a quick reference to what is happening, drawing my senses with me to feel the emotions of the moment with the characters. And, being of a familiar reference, gives me time to focus on other things that are happening. Penn has crafted her stories to give details of the most important moments, wasting no time in telling us about what we are looking for and the connection through history and religion. (Mind, the story is NOT preaching, it's actually an interesting twist on Religious beliefs and history.) Her characters, Morgan and Jake along with Martin and others, are well versed in the beliefs and legends so all their logical connections is explained. I love that there is always action or worry of danger when at different sites. The story is constantly moving forward with troubles and what we are searching for. We are back with Morgan and Jake, on a dangerous mission before the groups out there seize the opportunity to bring the End of Days to pass. There are signs surfacing with the stars and tablet found. The story is told for a few different POV's. But! Before you worry, Penn does an amazing job at dropping enough details or descriptions that you know exactly who's head you are viewing through. There is NO confusion. What you learn in each moment with different characters is spot on to the events happening and draw you in even more. You know what's happening on the inside of the troubles along with our agents trying to stop it from happening. Penn blends these in a way that you want to rush Morgan and Jake along to get there in time! Awesome! As for the characters, I do love them. I enjoy them together as they have different strengths that is highlighted by the other on their missions. Morgan is starting to see her job in a new light. What about her family? After the last book, she fears that she's putting them in danger with her work. But, she seems to like the adrenaline and research blend of working for the ARKANE. And Jake too. We get to spend time with Martin and learn a bit about him, and see him out in the field. Yep, it's a little hard on him in this book but with working in this secret agency it can happen. Another magnificent installment to the world or ARKANE. I'm curious about the next mission and what Morgan will decide.
A great storyline great character and lots of action leaves you wanting the story to just go on and an looking forward to reading the next book in this series
Misterioso y curioso, un poco miedoso, pero para reflexionar y meditar sobre el mismo, recomiendo que lo lean y relean, el autor muestra como pueden ser el final de los das
A Thrilling Ride With Morgan and Jake One thing that makes J. F. Penn unique is her ability to take you on a thrilling ride in spite of religious and historical scenarios. Passionate about religious relics and historical places, author Penn's End of Days puts you in suspense while giving you adequate reasons to read on. Her vivid description is superb and in consequence her characters come alive in the vivid world. Morgan Sierra is my favorite character. She exudes strength and courage even in danger. I have never been a fan of religious relics or historical statues, but Penn, with her ARKANE series, has peaked my interest in them, enough to read the next in the series. And the next. And then the next. If you're looking for an apocalyptic story involving Biblical prophecy and dark magical powers, Penn's End of Days (and her ARKANE series) would be a good start. Moreso, Penn has an impeccable writing style that makes you feel envious and inspired to improve as a writer, too. I do learn new words from her book, and I'll be going back to pick some more from this book. As a serious self-published author, she takes editing seriously and it reflected in her book. I could hardly find an error while reading through. I give this book five stars and I recommend it to everyone who likes a good story. I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book but this review is my own opinion and is not influenced by the author.
Once Again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. J.F. Penn has the ability to draw the reader in right from the start. Another exciting page turner. I recommend her books for anyone who enjoys interesting historical research as well a good story. I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book but this review is my own opinion and is not influenced by the author.
J.F. Penn has done it once again. As a huge Dan Brown fan, I am continuously impressed by the amazing stories that comes from her mind. Following Morgan and Jake on their race against time was extremely thrilling and as always well thought out and put together. I am awaiting the next ARKANE and J.F. Penn story eagerly!
